Meet Dr. Welton

Choosing an orthodontist means choosing someone who will guide you through an important part of your dental health journey.

At Welton Orthodontics, Dr. Welton focuses on helping patients understand their orthodontic needs and the treatment options available to them.

Orthodontic care involves understanding how teeth, jaws, and facial structures work together. Dr. Welton considers these important relationships when evaluating each patient’s orthodontic needs.

For families in Riverton, South Jordan, and Bluffdale, having an orthodontist nearby makes it easier to attend appointments, ask questions, and maintain continuity throughout treatment. Our goal is to build lasting relationships with patients while helping them achieve healthy, functional smiles.

  • About Dr. Welton

Dr. Welton was born in Fresno, California where he lived until 1984 when he left to attend Brigham Young University for his pre-dental education. He completed his studies at BYU in 1990, with a two-year hiatus to serve as a missionary in Chile, graduating with a BS in Zoology.

Dr. Welton earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at The Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1994. After completing his orthodontic specialty training Dr. Welton returned to Utah to establish a private practice. Since opening his practice he has treated thousands of patients comprising the full spectrum of orthodontic problems, from simple crowding to complex treatments involving oral surgery. Dr. Welton believes that the benefits of orthodontic treatment are more than just beautiful teeth and the proper function of the mouth. Beyond that is the positive social and psychological impact treatment has on patients. For him, the greatest result of orthodontic treatment is to see a timid and self-conscious patient become confident and outgoing as a result of treatment.

Dr. Welton is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists along with its regional and local constituencies, as well as, an active member in his local study group.

In order to stay current with the latest advances in orthodontics, Dr. Welton regularly attends continuing education courses and is excited about the increasing use of technology in orthodontic treatment.

When not in his office Dr. Welton enjoys spending time with his wife, Sally, and his four children.

Personalized Orthodontic Care

No two patients have exactly the same smile, bite, or treatment goals. An individualized orthodontic evaluation helps identify concerns such as crowding, spacing, and bite alignment.

Treatment planning considers the patient’s age, dental development, oral health, and desired outcome.

Helping Patients Understand Their Treatment

Orthodontic care involves more than placing braces or providing aligners. It also includes education, ongoing monitoring, and adjustments throughout treatment.

Dr. Welton’s consultation process gives patients an opportunity to discuss their concerns, ask questions, and learn about recommended next steps.

Orthodontic Care for Children, Teens, and Adults

Different stages of life bring different orthodontic considerations.

Children may benefit from an early evaluation to monitor jaw growth and tooth development. Teenagers commonly begin comprehensive treatment as their permanent teeth emerge. Adults may seek treatment to address long-standing alignment concerns or changes in their smiles.
